Definition of a Super Smartie

"Super Smartie" is what I call a "Cooley-ism". {Cooley-ism = made up word.} There are many "Cooley-isms" that I have created, but this one is used daily in our classroom. When my first graders picture a "Super Smartie", they usually explain that it's a superhero who wears a cape, and saves the world with his or her superhero powers. In a way, they are completely right! Although my first grade "Super Smarties" do not wear capes, masks, or superhero clothing--I believe that they really can {and will} save the world with the super power of knowledge.

I think EVERYONE--kids and adults alike--are "Super Smarties" IF they have the desire to wonder, imagine, question, problem solve, and discover! It is my hope to create a classroom in which my "Super Smarties" leave each day wanting to learn even more. It is my hope that they will become life-long learners and "imagineers". I hope you will enjoy reading about our learning adventures, and that you will watch your children grow as learners, and become little superheroes--changing and saving the world with their incredible minds!

 Love, Mrs. Cooley
