Graphs, Rockin' Crafts, and a New Year!

It has been a long time since I've updated our blog!  Here are some of the highlights since I posted last:

We have been busy learning how to collect and interpret data.  The kids are learning how to create pictographs and tally charts.  Here were a few we did this fall:

We had a blast creating coffee filter turkeys.  We also loved sharing our Thankful Platefull Projects!

"Linus the Minus Guy" showed up to teach all about subtraction strategies, and "Gus the Plus Guy" soon followed to teach us about addition strategies!

December was so busy!  We traveled around the world to learn about Christmas traditions in other countries, and we had fun doing crafts--like these rockin' reindeer:

Scout the classroom elf arrived!  He made a little desk for himself, and made sure everyone was doing their best at school!

To get into the spirit of Christmas, we became members of The Kind Kids Club--we wanted to spread kindness around our school.  We wrote a GIANT letter to Mrs. Dunham, the music teacher, to tell her how much we appreciated all of the hard work she put into our Christmas Concert!

Complete with a GIANT envelope!

We enjoyed some delicious Christmas Tree treats at our Christmas party!

We call this one "icing mountain"--HA!:

The kids placed their orders for hot chocolate for Polar Express Day with this "graphtivity".  Most students ordered their hot chocolate with marshmallows AND chocolate chips!  Yum.

To ring in the New Year, we talked about resolutions, and then made "Rockin' Resolution" guitars.  {I'm just now noticing that many of my crafts are "rockin"! }

A new station activity has been added to our "nook" area for winter--The Hibernation Hide Out!  Students can read wintery books and snuggle with bears.

I can't wait to see what fun this New Year will bring!
 {I'm sure there will be more rockin' crafts!}
